The Northport-East Northport Public Library exists to inform, educate and culturally enrich the residents of all ages of the district through the selection, organization, promotion and dissemination of all forms of expression.

Sachem Public Library serves over 83000 district residents in an area that extends over three townships: Brookhaven, Islip, and Smithtown. Sachem Library cardholders are among the most active in the state with more than three quarters of a million items circulating each year. Sachem Library is governed by a Board consisting of five elected trustees. Each trustee serves a five-year term with one trustee position coming up for election each year.
