Registration for this event has closed.
Libraries Nourish is a new initiative being put forth through the public libraries in Suffolk County. The first goal in this effort is to learn about the many nutrition programs and resources available to people in need. Representatives from Island Harvest and WIC will talk about supplemental nutrition programs and how library staff can promote and assist patrons in their community with the application process for the various programs.

Going forward the Libraries Nourish initiative will focus on how public libraries "nourish" their communities, through public assistance efforts, programming and community resources.

It does not matter what role you play in the library, the more people who know about these resources the stronger and healthier your community will be as a result of the information you can share. It must be a joint and collaborative effort, in order for it to be a success and be able to make an impact in the community .

As more libraries become involved in these efforts and learn more about community resources and partnerships that can enhance the initiative, libraries can participate in the branding effort by displaying a Libraries Nourish logo on their front window and throughout their library.
