Mock Caldecott Workshop 2020

Primary tabs

Program Type: Children's Services

There are 76 seats remaining.

The annual SCLS Mock Caldecott Discussion and Vote provides the opportunity to spend time evaluating some of the many picture books which have been published in 2019. The criteria for the Caldecott Medal will provide the framework for our discussion.  Read the criteria carefully and apply it to your personal study and evaluation of the illustrations for all books. Please come prepared to make thoughtful contributions to the discussion of each title.

There are currently 14 titles on the list. The day will start with a brief introduction and overview of Caldecott criteria, then we will break into two groups and have time to discuss all 14 titles. Attendees will then nominate three titles each for final consideration, and the top seven titles from that vote will advance to a final round of discussion. After this brief discussion, we will vote on our winner and honor titles.
