DESCRIPTION:As you may recall, the Stony Brook Healthy Libraries Program a
 nd the Program in Public Health shared a Mental Health Needs Assessment Su
 rvey with member libraries in fall 2025.The Mental Health and Libraries su
 rvey was available to library administration and staff from October to Dec
 ember 2025. The sur vey was created, conducted and analyzed by Cathryn Ca
 rmona. Cathryn is an MSW/MPH student at Stony Brook University. Cathryn wo
 rked with Dr. Lisa Benzscott to analyze the data and will be sharing the r
 esults of the survey and her work, with us on Tuesday, May 5th at 2:00pm.I
 n this virtual presentation Cathryn  will explain how the survey was impl
 emented and analyzed, and discuss the following themes that were focused o
 n in the survey.frequency of mental health disturbancescomfortability hand
 ling a mental health disturbanceIf a written library protocol or mental h
 ealth training aided in assisting patrons experiencing a mental health dis
 turbanceFinally, Cathryn will have future recommendations and share inform
 ation and resources that will enable libraries to address the findings in 
 the survey.Of course, no names or library locations will be identified in 
 this presentation/research.
