The Suffolk County Police Department Homeland Security Section provides training in Active Shooter Basic Survival Strategies. This training is based upon lessons learned and best practices. The training is open to all member library staff. Please contact Valerie Lewis with any questions at valerie@suffolknet.org Professional Development 2 hours

  • Know how to respond using Run–Hide–Fight or similar strategies.
  • Stay calmer under pressure because you’ve practiced what to do.
  • Improve situational awareness.
  • Understand police response and how to act safely when officers arrive.
  • Be better prepared at work or in public, helping protect yourself, your family and others.
