This workshop will take you on a deep dive into the world of Executive Functioning Skills: the specific skill names, descriptions, theory, and how these skills are displayed in a multi-faceted way within our society. This course will also provide individuals with a preliminary toolbox of proactive and reactive strategies to metacognitively support children as they grow and change. For those individuals who are interested in stepping into this Executive Functioning world, this workshop will serve as a solid foundational stepping stone.
Presented by Dawn Alexander & Marisa Castoro
Marisa Castoro, EdL:
Marisa Castoro currently works as a special education teacher/instructional consultant in the Three Village Central School District. During her 18 year career, Marisa has worked in multiple special education settings and has supported students with various needs. Over the last three years, Marisa has worked as an Instructional Diagnostician for special education, where she has worked to support elementary special education programs, teachers and parents through diagnostic evaluations, instructional meetings, CSEs, and student observation. Perhaps her biggest area of interest has grown to be the world of Executive Functioning, where Marisa has found herself diving into various trainings and workshops, both in Three Village and around Long Island, and she finds immense joy in sharing and teaching this information with others to help support our changing world. Outside of work, Marisa enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, and of course always looking to bring those EF skills into the home!
