Outreach Services - Healthcare Awareness through Library Outreach

This group of representatives from various healthcare and non-profit organizations, county agencies and Suffolk County public libraries come together with the goal of sharing information that will assist public libraries with programming ideas and collection development. We also want to learn how to meet the growing health literacy needs of our communities. Please note: the goal of this group is not to have library staff answer healthcare related questions, but rather to be prepared to guide patrons to the most appropriate sources (of which there are many) in each community.  This meeting is a networking opportunity, at which you are encouraged to share information about your library’s/organization’s healthcare related resources.
