Please join us at SCLS on Wednesday, November 1st (10:00 to Noon), to learn about the Music and Memory (personalized music therapy) program. This program is designed for individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia and other degenerative neurologic diseases. SCLS Outreach Services has worked with Dan Cohen, the founder and Executive Director of the Music and Memory program, to customize the Music and Memory process, to better fit the needs of the public library. While Dan’s focus is on people living in nursing homes and other institutionalized settings, our approach is designed to use this program to serve and enhance the lives of community members who are still living at home. The Music and Memory program has been proven to positively impact the lives of people living with these diseases as well as the lives of their loved ones and caregivers. There are thousands of people living in your community who can benefit from this library service. Currently there are 22 Suffolk County Public Libraries offering this unique outreach service to their patrons.
Please let us know in advance if you will need an accommodation that will make this event accessible to you. For further information, please contact: Valerie Lewis (Administrator for Outreach Services) 631-286-1600 ext. 1354 or @ valerie@suffolknet.org
