Placing and filling holds in a timely manner has become one of the most central customer service functions our libraries provide. This session will give staff at all levels an overview of how holds work in the PALS System, along with providing answers to frequently asked questions about holds, and tips for keeping your library’s hold queues moving along efficiently. We will cover the differences between Item and Title level holds the lifecycle of a hold in our system, best practices for placing and following up on holds, ways to manage holds on behalf of patrons using the View Outstanding Holds and High Demand Holds functions, and much more! Library staff with all levels of experience in this are welcome. Bring your holds questions and examples, and be ready to discuss your library’s internal procedures with your colleagues from other PALS libraries.
The meeting will be broadcast via GoToMeeting at: https://www.gotomeet.me/SCLS
