Program Description

Event Details

Dr. Lisa Benz Scott, Director for the Program in Public Health at Stony Brook University and Janine Logan, Vice President of Communications and Population Health for the Long Island Health Collaborative, will present the results from two research studies which involved 95 staff members from 32 public libraries across Long Island.

These pre-pandemic studies focused on the “perceived” most common health and social needs of library patrons and what libraries were doing to address those needs.  Dr. Benz Scott and Ms. Logan, along with others involved in the research, will summarize the findings and welcome questions regarding this and future research opportunities that will help to improve the health and well-being of each Long Island community.

This workshop is open to all Long Island library administrators, staff, and trustees who are interested in knowing more about how libraries impact public health.
