Join librarian/author Megan Emery to learn about The Healing Library - a project that has been developed by librarians, a children’s literature advocate, and a holistic art and play therapist to assist families with healing in a healthy way while teaching parents the skills of looking critically at picture books and utilizing them to communicate with children.
The Healing Library is a series of lendable kits your library can utilize to support families in their journey of healing after 3 specific periods of trauma. Through community connections, conversation, and meaningful interactions with picture books and holistic art & play therapy activities you can provide your local families with a platform for healing they can cater to their specific needs. Together we'll explore:
- The free, downloadable contents of the kits
- How to assemble your own to reflect the needs of your library and community
- The Social Emotional Learning benefits possible utilizing the kits
- How the kits came to be and you can assemble your own kit reflective of your community's needs
