Join us for the 2017 Mock Newbery Workshop!
Coffee and registration at 9:00am. Mock Newbery discussion and vote 9:30am - 12:00pm.
The annual SCLS Mock Newbery Workshop provides children’s librarians with the opportunity to examine and evaluate some of the many titles published in 2016. The criteria for the Newbery Medal, which follow this memo, will provide the framework for our discussion. Read the criteria carefully, and apply it to your personal study and evaluation of the nominated books. Please come prepared to make thoughtful contributions to the discussion of each title. We will start the meeting with a brief look at the Newbery Medal, and the specific criteria that surrounds the award.
