This training is designed for non-traditional responders and meets New York State Department of Health requirements that include recognition of opioid overdose, administration of intra-nasal NARCAN, and steps to take until EMS arrives. The goal of the class is to shorten the critical time period between discovery of an opioid overdose and administration of Narcan, a lifesaving antidote. Participants will receive a certificate of completion / authorization card and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes NARCAN, at no cost. Each person who attends will receive a kit for the library and a kit for personal use.
Training is provided by John Aicher, Emergency Preparedness Officer for the Suffolk County Department of Health Services/EMS.
